Now that summer is here. Thunderstorms will be the order of the day. To protect your solar system and gadgets its important to know how to protect them and your family. If your system was installed by professional installers they will have already advised you on how to ensure you are safe and more importantly they will have installed gadgets to limit or reduce damage arising from thunderstorms.

1. Panels 

Make sure your solar panels are properly earthed or grounded. Your problems may start here if your system is not properly grounded.

2. Inverter 

Protect your inverter against spikes in voltage which are very common during thunderstorms especially for grid connected inverters. 

3. Turn off sensitive gadgets 

During an intense storm turn off your sensitive appliances and unplug them from the wall sockets. Overtime due to rising temperatures thunderstorms are becoming more violent and intense.
